I was offered £125,000 for one of my sites last year, equivalent to about 5 years income from it. I turned it down on the basis that

1. It's a solid niche and I'm sure I'll still be making money from it in 15 years time

2. If it's worth that much to them then I'm missing a trick.

So I re-evaluated how I make money from that site and now it makes much more. Sometimes just having the offer is a good thing :)

I completely agree with you. I think for sites which are on auto pilot, it really does not make sense to sell them unless you would prefer to cash it out / need cash. Else, keep it. It may or may not make that kind of money that you can sometimes sell it for, but then who knows. It also depends who strong the site is and how much you trust it and your SEO marketing practices.

Yeah I thought so too! Cheers.

I think your right though, for small sites 1 years earnings is probably sufficient. But as it is earning well, and hopefully will increase its definately worth keeping. My earnings have dropped 50% on it since the depression so when things pick up hopefully my earnings will!

Ill keep my fingers crossed :)

I'd say you did the right thing keeping it, if you have seen that level of growth in the last year you'd ahve to assume it will continue to climb. If you see it level off or start to decline, thats often times when people will be tempted to sell.

As far as my personal sites are concerned, I will generally keep them unless I get an offer thats at least 2-3 times it's annual revenue. I know thats greedy, but oh well lol..

That's what I thought Sire. Although from what I can tell sites usually tend to sell for 10-12months revenue.

If you have already made $2500 in the past year then what he offered is well below what the site is worth as you stand to make a whole lot more over time.
